HCA/EMCC Knowledge meeting: The Ethical Connections of Contracting in Coaching
Date: Πέμπτη, 28 Ιουνίου 2012
All Day
We are pleased to announce the 5th HCA Knowledge Meeting, which will take place on Thursday, June 28th, at Electra Palace Hotel in Athens.
In the current political and economic climate there is uncertainty and ambiguity in many contexts where coaching has formerly been accepted and established, change is constant and inevitable whilst costs are being scrutinised carefully.
At the same time, there has been much dialogue recently around how coaching needs to ‘professionalise’ and if so, what does that look like. There is also talk of creating a common Ethical Code across all the coaching associations.
In this experiential workshop, participants will be invited to bring live client work to provide the basis to investigate and explore:
- The values and prejudices that underpin the coaching practice, particularly in the current climate
- A case study to demonstrate the diverse elements involved in multi-partite, ethical contracting
- The intended outcomes and dealing with the unintended consequences of the ethical decisions that we make
This event will be of interest to:
- independent coaches who may be looking for advice and support in managing multi-stakeholder and client situations. Coaches will be able to reflect on their existing frameworks and coaching contracts.
- In-house coaches and mentors often face dilemmas over confidentiality, conflicts of interest and boundary management. This workshop will help them to recognise and resolve some of these problems.
- Buyers of coaching and mentoring services need to be familiar with the core principles and guidelines that underpin professional coaching practice. Working with the EMCC Ethical Code will enable them to gain an appreciation of some of the issues involved in coach/coachee contracts, what informs the coach’s approach and how they can support ethical contracting.
It is not essential that you have attended our previous Ethical Awareness Knowledge Meeting. There will be fresh input and practical approaches that are new and different from the earlier programme.
Workshop Facilitator: Alison Hodge
The workshop will be facilitated by Alison Hodge, a coach, facilitator and coaching supervisor with more than 20 years’ experience in helping executives, external coach/consultants and internal coaches. She has an MSc in Change Agent Skills and Strategies and is a qualified Coaching Supervisor, certified by APECS (Association of Professional Executive Coaches and Supervisors). She is a member of EMCC UK and an accredited coach at Master Practitioner Level (EIA).
